05-16-11  On Saturday, May 7th at 11:25 AM Patrolman Jonathan Bryant with the Marshall County Sheriffs Department was investigating a suspicious person complaint in the area of 102 West  Randolph Street in LaPaz with the assistance of Patrolman Jeff Snyder and  Patrolman Joseph Giordano .  During the investigation drug paraphernalia and legend drugs were located in the vehicle and in the possession of 31 year old Christopher A. Leed of LaPaz.  Mr. Leed was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in on a $500 bond.

On Wednesday, May 11th at 8:06 PM Patrolman Bryant was investigating a battery complaint at 301 Akron Street in Culver.  During the investigation contact was made with 18 year old Derek A. Shafer of Culver.  During a search Mr. Shafer was found to be in possession of marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in on a $1,000 bond.

On Thursday, May 12th at 6:48 PM Patrolman Bryant responded to US 31 and 7 B Road in reference to a single motor vehicle accident.  Upon arriving to the scene it was advised that 57 year old Carlton K. Bough of Nappanee was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 traveling northbound on US 31 approaching 7B Road when he ran off the roadway.   He proceeded through the median, across the southbound lanes and into a ditch on the west side of the roadway.  The driver sustained severe injuries to the head and was air lifted to Memorial Hospital.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Later that night at 8:33 PM Patrolman Joseph Bryant and Patrolman Joseph Giordano went to 115 North Michigan Street to serve two arrests warrants on 39 year old Johnnie Sheppard of LaPaz and 38 year old Deanna Sheppard of LaPaz. Contact was made with both subjects Mr. Sheppard was arrested for active warrants and resisting law enforcement by fleeing on foot. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail with bonds of $15,900 for civil contempt and $2000 for resisting law enforcement.  Deanna Sheppard was arrested for purchase of Ephedrine or Pseudoephedrine and was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on a $2,000 bond.
