11/16/11 On Wednesday, November 9th at approximately 7:15pm, Marshall County Police Officer Rob Hafke responded to 7B Road just east of Pine Road. The driver, Eugene Vanvynckt said he was traveling westbound on 7B Road in his 1997 Jeep Cherokee when he was distracted by his cell phone. The distraction caused his vehicle to drift into the westbound shoulder. The shoulder was a steep drop-off and consequently pulled his Jeep into the ditch. It landed on its roof after an approximate ten foot drop. Vanvynckt was able to pull himself from the jeep with only a minor bump on his head.

Marshall County Police officer, Joseph Giordano investigated an accident on Monday, November 14th around 10:00am on US 6 and 1C Road. The driver, 50 year old Chris Goettemoeller of St. Henry, Ohio was driving a 2008 Freightliner who was eastbound on US 6 west of 1C Road. The truck ran off the roadway to the south in the curve west of 1C Road and rolled into the ditch. Goettemoeller was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire and EMS, and then was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for minor injuries.

Later Monday afternoon at 3:45pm Marshall County Police investigated an accident on Beech Road north of 15B Road. Samuel Price of Bourbon was driving a 2007 Chevy Malibu southbound on Beech Road when he crossed the center line and struck a 2000 Chevy truck driven by Jacob Schlosser of Bourbon who was northbound on Beech Road. No injuries were reported from the accident. County Police were assisted by the Bourbon Police Department.
