On Thursday June 9th at approximately 2:00 p.m. a gray horse trailer being towed by a Ford F250 driven by Veronica Hawkins of Wanatah was south bound on Michigan Road north of 5th Road, when a red passenger car traveling north bound went left of center striking the horse trailer. The red passenger car continued north bound without stopping to exchange information. Anyone with information regarding the hit and run, please contact the Marshall County Police at 574-936-3187.
Then on Saturday, June 11th around 1:47 a.m. County Patrolman Cooper initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Westgate Ave and Meadow Lane for failing to signal at a turn. Through the investigation it was determined that the driver, Zachary Taylor 21, of Plymouth was in possession of Marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Taylor was then transported to Plymouth Hospital where it was confirmed that he was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A $1000.00 cash bond was paid upon his release on June 12th at 9:45am. A scheduled court appearance in Marshall County Superior Court #2 will be on June 28th at 8:30am.
Then later Saturday on June 11th around 2:58 p.m. Patrolman McFarland was on a routine patrol and stopped Timothy Ryan 26, of South Bend on US 31 southbound, just south of 9A Road. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Ryan was driving on a suspended license. He was transported to the Jail where he was booked in for the charge of Driving while suspended with a Prior. Ryan is being held with a $750.00 cash bond and has a scheduled court appearance in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on June 28th at 8:30am.
To end the weekend off Patrolman Cooper responded to the 300 Block of Thayer Street on Sunday, June 12th around 4:21am, in reference to an intoxicated woman in front of a residence. Upon arrival officer’s discovered Ashley Hughes 24, of Walkerton was intoxicated. Ms. Hughes was transported to the County Jail where she was booked in for Public Intoxication and is being held on a $500 cash bond. She has a scheduled court appearance in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on June 28th at 8:30am.
On Wednesday June 8th, around 12:15 pm, Officers of the Marshall County Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of West Shore Drive at the Lake of the Woods, in Bremen in reference to a report of vehicles being vandalized. When officers arrived they learned that someone had attempted forced entry into two vehicles in the West Shore Apartment’s parking lot sometime that day between 1:00am and 7:00am.
