06/28/11 County Police had a busy weekend…

On Friday, June 24th at 3:58 p.m. Patrolman Les McFarland of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident located at US 6 and Dogwood Road in Bremen.   Maria Short from Siler Lake was driving a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo traveling northbound on Dogwood Road and failed to yield to the westbound traffic on US 6.  Short struck a 2008 Ford F-150 with a trailer attached.  After the two vehicles collided the Ford went off the roadway hitting a Century Link Utility Pole, Sprint junction box and damaged a yard.  Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.  No injuries from the accident were reported.   

Patrolman McFarland responded to another accident at 7:05 p.m. at 1st and Kenilworth Roads when the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call in reference to a one vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, McFarland made contact with driver, Summer N. Stepp 30, of Plymouth.  Stepp explained that she was westbound on 1st Road when she was texting and driving and went off the road way causing damage to her vehicle.  While Officer McFarland was speaking with Stepp, he detected an odor of an alcoholic on her breath, and bloodshot eyes.  Stepp was transported to Marshall County Sheriff’s Department where she was given a chemical test, which came back .11%.  Stepp was arrested for Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a $2000.00 cash bond which was paid on June 25th at 1:00pm.  She has a scheduled court appearance is set for July 12th in Marshall County Superior Court #2. 

On Sunday, June 26th at approximately 9:30 a.m. Patrolman McFarland made traffic stop at the intersection of 3rd and Michigan Roads on a 1999 silver 4-door Ford vehicle.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver, Fred V. Runnels 48, of Plymouth had a suspended driver’s license and appeared to be intoxicated.  Runnels were taken to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department where he was given a certified chemical test that read a .10%.  Runnels was arrested and was placed into the Marshall County Jail where he was charged with Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior and a $1000.00 cash bond.  He has a scheduled court appearance is set for July 12th in Marshall County Superior Court #2. 

On June 26th at 3:44 p.m. Patrolman Matt Brown investigated an accident on 7th and Pear Roads.  Eva Holderread 76, of Plymouth stated that she was traveling east on 7th Road when the sun glared off an object and she started to travel off the south side of the roadway in her 2006 Chrysler Town and Country.   Holderread stated that she corrected her steering and when she came back onto the roadway the vehicle started traveling towards the ditch on the north side of the roadway.  She was unable to correct the vehicle and left the north side of the roadway and struck a utility pole head on.  Holderread was complaining of back pain and was transported to the Plymouth Hospital by Plymouth EMS.
