09/27/11 Culver Academies’ 15-court Gable Tennis Complex will be hosting the first three rounds of the Indiana High School Athletic Association boys tennis state tournament. The tournament begins with the sectional on Wednesday and Thursday.
The teams competing will be Culver Military Academy, Rochester, Knox, and North Judson. The first round will begin at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, and the championship is tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29. There is no charge for the sectional matches.
The regional will be conducted on Oct. 4-5. The winner of the Culver sectional will play the Peru winner in one match on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The Bremen sectional winner will face the Warsaw champion in the other match. Both matches will begin at 5 p.m. The first round winners will play for the regional championship on Wednesday, Oct. 5. There is no charge for the regional matches.
The semi-state tournament will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 8, starting at 10 a.m. There will be a $5 per person fee charged. The Culver Academies winner will play the winner at Portage and the winners at Kokomo and Munster will square off in the second match. The championship match will follow later that day.
This is the first time the Gable Tennis Complex has hosted the regional and semi-state tournaments. It was honored by the United States Tennis Association with one of seven Facility Awards in 2010.
The state finals will be played at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
