04/28/11 Taxpayer Advocate, Diana Vice from Lafayette will be the special guest speaker at the Marshall County Tax Awareness Committee meeting this Thursday, April 28th.

The blogger profile for Diana Vice states the following: “Born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, I am a libertarian-minded conservative. I’ve been called a troublemaker a time or two, but if that means I cause trouble for tax wasters and freedom haters, then I’ll wear the label as a badge of honor. I’d rather be baking cookies with my grandchildren, but there’s too much work to be done. I’ll leave the cooking to Betty Crocker, because I want to leave a better world for my grandchildren.”

Vice has been blogging with Welcome to My Tea Party for several months about the roofing projects the Plymouth Community School Board approved for Tremco.  She also spoke briefly on WTCA’s What’s Your Opinion Show one morning when Superintendent Dan Tyree and Assistant Superintendent Roger Smith were on.  He blog site boast over 63,000 hits.

According to the Hoosiers For Fair Taxation blog site Ms. Vice was nominated in 2008 for the Sam Adams “Sunshine” Alliance Award for using the state’s open records laws to uncover government corruption, waste or malfeasance.

When you Google her name one finds that Ms. Vice is a member of Taxpayers United for Fairness and has been looking a school roofing projects as far back at 2005 when Vice asked the Indiana Attorney General’s Office to investigate possible illegal acts with regard to public sector construction contracts with the Rossville School roofing project that Tremco was awarded.  According to the National Roofing Contractors Association “the attorney general’s office did not see illegal actions committed.”

In 2010 Diana Vice with Taxpayers United for Fairness issued a letter to New Hampshire Voters and urged their support of Gerard Beloin who she states, “has exposed the same type of corruption in your state and is still fighting against well-connected politicians who are reportedly making a living off of it.”

The Marshall County Tax Awareness meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in the Laramore Room of the Plymouth Public Library, 201 North Center Street.  The meeting is open to the public.  There will be a short executive board meeting for members following the regular meeting.
