02/22/11 Jeff Million, Project Manager from DLZ updated the Marshall County Commissioners on the progress of Isom Construction on the bridge replacement and realignment on 13th Road west of Muckshaw Road.

The construction company had been off the job site for 2 weeks due to the snow and cold temperatures.  They returned on February 14th and were able to pour concrete on pier three.  Million anticipates them pouring the cap on pier three early next week.  He did note that they were not on site Monday because of the icy weather.

The remaining bridge structure will need to be demolished prior to work being initiated on pier two.

Million explained that the contract for this project requires the bridge to be complete by July 13th.  He said the contract has a severe financial penalty if the project is not completed on time.   He also confirmed that Isom Construction cannot ask for a time extension for weather, due to the fact that they planned for a winter construction project.

Jeff Million said, “I’d say it would take a miracle to get finished on time.”  He also noted that the river depth rose quickly on Friday due to the melting snow and the water came within a foot of the top of the pour project.
