10/27/11 the Marshall County election board spent the majority of their meeting on October 25th reviewing the material that will be covered during poll worker’s training on November 1st.   The 42 poll workers, including alternates, must attend the training that will be conducted by board members Steve Harper, Julie Fox, and Roger Wise. Poll workers must be registered voters in Marshall County. Those serving as clerks, sheriffs, inspectors and judges must live within the municipality for a municipal election.

The board received financial reports form every candidate. There was one report that was turned in approximately one hour late by candidate Casey Howard, however, the board acknowledged her explanation for the tardiness and voted unanimously to not impose any fines.

The last municipal election was in 2007 when 31 percent of registered votes exercised their right to vote.  It was noted during the meeting that recent changes in the state laws now exclude the names of candidates who are running unopposed in a municipal election.

The board entertained an update on the purchase of eight binders to hold election reports. According to Marshall County Clerk and election board member, Julie Fox, the purchase totaling $1,180 was approved last year, but there were not enough funds available to proceed with the purchase.
