Encore Hosts Parrots of the Caribbean

July 13, 2011

07/14/11 This Friday, Encore Performing Arts will be hosting a ‘Parrot-Head Party’ for their second Music in the Park concert. After the popularity of last year’s group, The Tides, the programming committee is doing it again with Parrots of the Caribbean. Their music offers the sounds and antics similar to Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Refer Band.

Parrots of the Caribbean is a seasoned and diverse quintet from Dayton, Ohio. The musical backgrounds of the members spans some 25 years each, covering a vast variety of styles. They bring the excitement, energy and first class musicianship of Jimmy Buffett.

Together this popular group of five musicians exemplifies a wide variety of talent second to none. The band members include Dave Albrecht, Jeff ‘Hawaiian Hillbilly’ Cline on lead and rhythm guitars, Kenny ‘Tips’ Rice on keyboard, Gary ‘Riptide’ Rigmaiden on bass and Greg ‘Great White’ Martin on drums, percussion as well as lead and backing vocals,

They have appeared all over the country. A fundraiser by the Rotary Club of Madison, Alabama last year commented, “Their Jimmy Buffett tribute show has been wowing audiences around the country for years now. Heading up this very talented band is Dave ‘Cap’n C’ Albrecht, aka The Voice. The amazing similarity of his voice to that of Jimmy Buffett has astounded many listeners. Dave comes complete with props and costumes for the true feel of a Buffett show!”

They will have CD’s to sell including ‘The Cool Bayou’ featuring all original music.

The group claims to have put the rock in ‘Trop Rock’.

Encore is grateful for the generosity of Centier Bank for being the major sponsor for the event.

Debi Gidley, Executive Director, will be interviewed on WTCA radio ‘What’s Your Opinion’ show on Wednesday July 13 at 9:45 a.m.

Bring a lawn chair, your favorite beverage and a picnic to enjoy this special music in a delightful setting. Get in the spirit and don your island finery, a lei—maybe you can find your muumuu! If you don’t want to cook, Delta Theta Tau will once again be offering refreshments—each performance offering a special that reflects the group performing.

As in years’ past, gates open at 6:00 with the performance at 7:30. Tickets are $10 for adults in advance and $15 at the gate. Children and K-12 students are free. Tickets are available at the Encore Office, A.S.K. for Flowers, Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, Plymouth Park and Recreation Department, Wagoner’s Music Shop and WTCA.
