Enjoying Indiana’s Outdoors Safely

September 29, 2011

09/30/11 With all the signs of fall being just around the corner, this means more and more people are going to be enjoying the beauty of Indiana’s great outdoors. Whether you are out enjoying the scenery or participating in the upcoming hunting seasons, Indiana Conservation Officers would like to take a moment to inform everyone of the increasing use of the outdoors for drug activity. Indiana Conservation Officers ask that if you find something that might be associated with the use of illegal drugs do not pick it up or disturb it. You should contact the local law enforcement agency and let them handle the situation.  Conservation Officers also offer these few safety tips:

  • Inform someone of where you will be going and approximately what time you should return. Incase an injury were to occur, this information is critical in getting fast assistance.
  • If you are hunting from an elevated stand, you should wear the proper safety equipment.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather.
  • And finally, extend the same courtesies and considerations that you would want other outdoor enthusiasts to give you.
