CLARMONT, FL – In their final two games of their spring trip, the Ancilla College softball team split a pair of games to finish their trip with a 6-4 record and raise their overall record to 10-4. Ancilla defeated Bergen (NJ) Community College 4-1 in their opener, and lost to Burlington County (NJ) Community College 6-2 in their final game.
In the opener, Emily Steele struck out six and pitched six shutout innings, before being nicked up for one run in the final stanza. Trina Bauer was 2-3 for the Lady Chargers, whose key to victory was solid defense finishing the game with eight assists and no errors.
Ancilla was held to five hits in their final game. Alysha Faler was 1-1 with two walks and a run scored. The Chargers went into the seventh inning trailing 6-0 before putting together a late rally, scoring two runs and leaving runners on second and third in the loss.
“It was a good trip for us,” commented Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “We learned a lot about ourselves. Not only did we learn some things we need to work on, but we learned how to play together. I’m looking forward to getting home and seeing how we react to conference play.”
