As a sophomore, Hancock was named to the second team of the NCC All-Conference team. Going into her senior year, she has a career .362 batting average.
“Maura is a hardworking and passionate player,” began Trojan coach Jeff Theobald. “She will be a great addition to Ancilla’s team.”
Over the last three seasons on her travel team, the Indiana Inferno, Hancock has collected a .328 batting average and .433 slugging percentage in 430 at bats.
“The college visit made me feel at home,” mentioned Hancock when asked about her decision to attend Ancilla.
“Maura brings a complete package to Ancilla,” started Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “Not only is she is a tremendous softball player, but she does a fantastic job in the classroom, too. Her versatility is a plus, as well. She is a great young lady and I am glad she has decided to become part of the Ancilla softball family.”
While at Ancilla, Hancock will begin work on her degree in Health Sciences, with aspirations of entering the Nursing program. Maura is the daughter of Marc and Laura Hancock of New Castle.
