Win the victory, Ancilla (4-0) matched its best start to a season in program history, when the 2005 squad started the season 4-0.
Hutson was simply on fire throughout the game, finishing 12-of-17 from the field, including 8-of-13 from beyond the arc. He also connected on all seven of his free throw attempts for the Chargers.
“Alexander played a great game for us,” said Ancilla men’s basketball coach Greg Neeley. “He made shots, but even more, he did a great job managing the game.”
Joby Renbarger finished with 14 points for Ancilla while Chris Holt and Josh Wilson each added 11. Ben Gilbert was a menace on the defensive end, finishing with six steals and a pair of blocks.
The Chargers trailed 16-4 early, but recovered to claim a 44-39 lead by halftime. They would carry that momentum in to the second half, as they established a 20 point lead early on and never looked back.
“We played a much better second half,” said Neeley. “Our offensive efficiency was much better and we did a better job of making them take tough shots.”
