07/26/11 Beat the heat with a little family fun sponsored by the Plymouth Alumni Association.
Tuesday night, Aug. 2, the Plymouth Alumni Association – along with Mancino’s – is sponsoring a Family Game night from 6 to 10 p.m. Bring your favorite board game and the whole family for an evening of fun that is part of the first “Alumni Week” in Plymouth.

“We’ve tried to put together a lot of events that people can come out and have a good time and really celebrate the Plymouth community and a Plymouth education,” said Plymouth Alumni Association Director Rusty Nixon. “Along with the reunion games for some of the sports teams, we wanted to add some events that celebrate families too. This is an inexpensive night out with a lot of fun involved.”

“When I was in school snow days, were special because all the guys that lived around me in our neighborhood would meet at a friend’s house and have an all-day euchre tournament; there were the all night Risk marathons. A lot of fun times happen around a game table.”

Whether your thing is Monopoly or card games, there will be something for every family member to enjoy and discounts on Mancino’s food items. There will be raffles and door prizes throughout the night with all the proceeds going to the Plymouth Alumni Association.
The PAA is a non-profit organization that works to connect and inform Plymouth graduates. All funds collected by the organization go to support extra and co-curricular programs at the Plymouth schools such as art, music, theatre and sports. Other events during Alumni Week include alumni games for baseball Sunday, July 31, volleyball Wednesday, Aug. 3 and basketball Thursday, Aug. 4.
The annual Ladies Big Red Open takes place during the day Thursday, Aug. 4 raising money for the women’s athletics programs at PHS, and the Art Thomas Big Red Open has its 21st outing Friday, Aug. 5 to support the PHS athletic department.

There will be an all-class social at Swan Lake Friday, Aug. 5. Reunions for the classes of 1976 at The Office and 1986 at the Brass Rail will be on the agenda for Saturday night.
“We’re very happy to have Mancino’s partner with us to host this event for the very first time,” said Nixon. “They are extremely active in the community in many different ways helping and supporting all kinds of organizations and we’re glad to be one of them.”
