BENTON HARBOR, MI – The Ancilla College women’s basketball team dropped a 64-49 decision on the road at Lake Michigan College on Wednesday in MCCAA Western Conference action.

Meghan Brown led the Lady Chargers (3-9, 1-3 MCCAA Western) with 15 points on the night.

Lake Michigan (9-4, 4-1 MCCAA Western) received 10 points from four different players in a balanced effort – Allison Beard, Priscilla Miranda, Lindsay Drake, and Barbara Johnson.

Shalana Murray had nearly half of Ancilla’s 31 rebounds, grabbing 14 boards in the losing effort.  Lake Michigan dominated in total rebounds during the game, holding a 51-31 advantage.

“We didn’t rebound well, we didn’t come ready to work and it showed on the glass,” said Ancilla women’s basketball coach Dave Liverance.  “Too many times we would get a steal and then turn it over.

“It took us until halftime to start playing.”

Ancilla trailed 34-24 at halftime, shooting just 33 percent in the opening frame.

The Lady Chargers will resume play on Jan. 15 when they travel to Kalamazoo, MI, to play MCCAA Western Conference rival Kalamazoo Valley Community College.  Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST.
