Lady Chargers Lose Hard Fought Match to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Ancilla College volleyball team lost in hard fought sets to MCCAA Western Conference rival Grand Rapids Community College on Tuesday by the scores of 15-25, 204-25, 19-25.


The Lady Chargers (5-9, 0-6 MCCAA Western) were led by Miranda Hammons with 15 digs and six kills while Danni Burge added 14 digs and three aces.


Despite the loss, Ancilla head volleyball coach Lana Singleton was upbeat about her team’s performance.


“We played hard against a very talented Grand Rapids team,” said Singleton.  “(We) did not give up on defense and played together.  I was proud of the effort.”


Nicole Trudell added 14 digs while Natasha Ware and Keri Friend each recorded five kills.  Kristen Trudell finished with 15 assists on the night.


Grand Rapids improved to 14-4 with a 5-1 record in the MCCAA Western Conference standings.


The Lady Chargers resume play on Thursday when they host MCCAA Western Conference rival Lake Michigan College.  Play begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
