04/09/13 GASTON, IN – Wes-Del High School student Hannah Sneed recently signed her Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Ancilla College in the 2013-2014 season.

“My main reason I chose Ancilla is because I really like the small school environment” began Sneed. “I like the familiarity of the town, the courses Ancilla College has to offer, and the friendly/inviting atmosphere of the students and staff.”

Sneed earned nine total varsity letters (four in volleyball).  As a junior Sneed was a starter and played every set of Indiana’s Class 1A State Championship.  In that junior season Sneed had the third most kills behind two all-state first team seniors.  In her senior season Sneed led a very young team in kills.  In five years Sneed played club for Wave Volleyball Club and currently plays with Munciana Volleyball Club.

Wes-Del High School volleyball coach Biff Wilson commented, “Hannah epitomizes the role-player with her work ethic-based leadership, desire to improve with every rally, and high expectations of herself.  Hannah plays an all-in style of volleyball and is always the hardest worker in the gym!”

Besides hard work in the classroom and the volleyball court Sneed volunteered at Woodlands nursing home and helped with food drives for both her church and school.  She also had been part of Spanish club, math-science club, fellowship of Christian athletes, and food and consumer sciences.

Ancilla volleyball coach, Lana Singleton happily commented, “I am excited Hannah has decided to join the Ancilla College family.  Hannah possesses great athletic ability, skills, and comes from a quality program.  Most importantly, she loves the game!  I believe Ancilla College and Lady Charger Volleyball will be a great fit for this young lady.”

Ancilla College enrolls 500 students in 17 degree programs ranging from accounting to nursing. It was founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1937, and is located 2 miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth.
