Dave Cox was looking for that “rebound” win after getting hammered by #2-4A Elkart Memorial one week ago. Plymouth did more than rebound, they outlasted a Concord 42-32 at “The Rock”.
“We knew Concord was going to present a tough challenge for us, simply because of a couple of skilled players, Terenee Brownlee & Samantha Swain”, said Head Coach Dave Cox. “They dribble penetrate real well & we had to stop that.”
And stopping Concord’s ability to dribble into the lane is exactly what Plymouth did for most of the game. The Lady Pilgrims held Brownlee to 6 points (11 pts under her average) and 9 rebounds. Swain finished with 5 pts.
Plymouth got 8 points from Senior Erin Kinney, plus, 6 timely rebounds.
“She was probably one of stars today.”, said Cox. “She really played like a Senior with what she did offensively and Concord was really physical with her. She took a beating and still made a huge difference.”, added Cox.
The Lady Pilgrims played minus two starters, Seniors, Haley Smart and Chelsea Thoden. Haley with a high ankle sprain, Thoden with a Code of Conduct violation. Marissa Green also got hurt in the second quarter and never returned with a sore knee.
The Lady Pilgrims will head into a BIG NLC game vs Wawasee resembling a M*A*S*H unit somewhat. WTCA will bring you the action starting with the Pre-Game Show around 7PM Saturday night.
