09/29/11 Boy Scouts of America, LaSalle Council held a special gathering last weekend at Rice Woods.  Part of the event announced the exciting new that thanks to all the donations they have secured the long term future of the three LaSalle Council Camps with a maintenance endowment fund which is now up to $340,000. Rice Woods Camp, Camp Topenebee and Camp Tamarack Wood Lake Scout Reservation will be better preserved and protected for future generations of Scouts.

The ceremony on Saturday was for everyone who had given to the Camp Maintenance Endowment Fund.  The Order of the Arrow Lodge also had an ordeal (work) weekend where a new plaque was unveiled and they honored all who have given toward the safety, quality and future of the camps.

The Arrow Ordeal weekend is when selected candidates come to camp to reunite with the brotherhood of scouting and take time to do work projects which give back to the brotherhood by upgrading things at the LaSalle Council Camps.

The LaSalle Council has been afforded another opportunity to raise additional funds for the Camp Maintenance Endowment Fund.  An Anonymous donor has offered a matching (challenge) Grant of $20,000. To date $17,000 has been secured with the remaining due by the end of the year.  This fund supports on-going camp needs at these historical camp properties, making them safe, fun, and beautiful for generations to come.
