Latisha Shepherd (Argos High School) signs with Bethel College

05/20/11  Latisha Shepherd, a 5’4” guard from Argos High School, has committed to continue her basketball and academic careers for the 2011-2012 season at Bethel College (NAIA) in Mishawaka, IN.

During Latisha’s senior year, she averaged 12.3 points, 3.1 steals, 1.0 assists and 5.8 rebounds a game. Her season high in points was 23 against Culver Girls Academy and her game high in rebounds was 14 against Bethany Christian. She also had 7 steals in a game against Lakeland.

Latisha is also involved with the softball team; played soccer and volleyball. Other extra-curricular activities are: band, choir, pep band, musical, cadet teacher, youth group, peer mediator, 4-H, ASIS, Sunshine Club, and ABC Club.

“Latisha has a great attitude and is a very good athlete,” states Bethel College Head Coach Jody Martinez. “Her work ethic will allow her to compete in the guard position as she continues to develop at the next level here at Bethel College. We are blessed to have Latisha join the Lady Pilots family at Bethel College for the 2011 season.”

Latisha Shepherd on why she decided to choose Bethel College: “I chose Bethel because it is where I felt the most at home. It allows me to enjoy the two things I love: playing basketball and being in a Christian atmosphere.”

Head Coach Nick Medich on Latisha Shepherd’s decision to attend Bethel College: “Latisha has been a key figure for the basketball program the past couple of years and we are excited for her that she has the opportunity to play at the next level.”
