12/02/11 The Marshall County Tax Awareness Committee recently held election of officers for the upcoming year. Re-elected were Tom Flynn, president, and Judith Stone, secretary. Assuming the duties of Pro-Tem/Communications Officer will be John Clark.Clarkreplaces the late Raymond Bockman, who was a founding member of the group. Bockman passed way on August 4 of this year.Clarkwas also involved in the formation of the group some 15 years ago.

According to Mike Bernero, also a founding member, the committee acts as a conduit for community opinion and seeks to promote fiscal responsibility in government. He said they remain a non-partisan organization.

Beginning in January, 2012, meetings will be held every other month at the Plymouth Public Library on the last Thursday of each of those months. Bernero said they hold public meetings to receive information and often have guest speakers. He said they follow the public meeting with executive board meetings.

Bernero said they now have members from five different counties.
