11/09/11 During Monday’s County Commissioner’s meeting Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery presented the commissioners with two awards that he recently accepted on behalf of the county.

At the State EMA conference Marshall County EMA received an award recognizing them as the highest EMA Capabilities Assessment score for District 2 which includes: Saint Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Fulton, Pulaski, Starke, and Marshall.

The second award presented was the Department of Homeland Security Directors’ Award which recognized the Marshall County Emergency Management Program of the Year.  This award recognizes the agency receiving the highest assessment score for the entire State of Indiana.

Although Avery tried to present the two awards to the Commissioners, their comment was for him to put the awards in his office.  Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said, “These awards are thanks to your efforts.  We truly appreciate your efforts on behalf of the County.”
