19 year old Ashley Zehner of Culver was traveling west on 9C road in a 2001 Saturn SL1 when she lost control of her vehicle on the ice covered road surface. The car spun around and left the roadway. It went into an embankment ditch on the south side of the road and struck a telephone junction box.
Zehner told Officer Larry Snyder she was driving west when a mail delivery vehicle was on the side of the road. When she applied her breaks to slow, the vehicle started to slide and she lost control.
Ashley Zehner was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for complaint of pain to the back and neck area. Zehner was using a safety belt at the time of the crash.
Officer Larry Snyder was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS and the Indiana State Police.
