04/12/11 Employees at Mundy’s Restaurant on East Jefferson Street were notified Monday morning that the restaurant will be closing.
For the past 35 years Joan Eckstein has owned, managed and even worked at the restaurant which has been in operating since May 5, 1955. On Monday she told employees that the tough economic conditions during the past couple of years have really taken their toll on her business. It was with a very heavy heart that she told them Wednesday, April 13th would be their last day of work.
On June 8th an auction is planned to sell off the personal property and real estate on West Jefferson Street.
Eckstein wanted to thank all of her customers over the past many years for all their patronage. She also wanted to thank the numerous employees that have worked at Mundy’s Restaurant during the past 35 years.
