12/06/11 Monday evening the Plymouth Park Department elected new officers for 2012.  Current President, Jim Causey said, “After 10 and a half years I’m stepping back as president.  I have seen a couple of major improvements including phase I of the Green Way Trail.”   Causey then proposed a slate including Dave Morrow as President, Mike Kershner as Vice President and Sally Greenlee as Secretary.  The board unanimously approved the slate.

The Park Board also approved the 2012 Non-Reverting Budget with Park Superintendent Mike Hite said the budget was status quo with the 2011 budget.  Members also approve the 2012 meeting dates and next year’s fee schedule which included the addition of renting the Gazebos.  Hite said he has already seen three weddings there.  The fee to rent one of the gazebos will be the same as renting a picnic site, $10.

During the Superintendent’s report Hite commented that he had met with the “Bow Wow Friends” about the Dog Park and with the group interested in working on new tennis courts.  He has also been working with the Troyer Group on River Park Square plans.

The superintendent’s report also noted the need to work on a new contract for the Plymouth Schools because the contract will end in 2012.  The Marshall County Blueberry Festival contract ends at the end of this year so negotiations will begin on their next agreement for use of Centennial Park for the Labor Day Holiday weekend festival.
