Friends and Neighbors:
There are so many things happening at your Foundation these days and practically all of them are good. We have ridden out the recession with the value of our corpus back to pre-crash levels; we are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars of new ‘investment’ from generous donors; and despite tough economic times, we have been able to send well over a million dollars of much-needed support into the community over the past three years.
One change we are experiencing now is that Jennifer Maddox, our president, will be moving on to new opportunities after more than four years with us. Jennifer has had many successes at the Foundation – and at the United Way where she is executive director – but rather than detail them here, I’ll refer you to the news release that I am enclosing with this letter. I want to reiterate how grateful we are to Jennifer for her energy and leadership these past four years.
Valuable as she has been, we don’t expect Jennifer’s leaving to interrupt any of our progress. We are beginning a search immediately for a new executive director. Jennifer will stay through mid-summer to ensure a smooth transition and the office has talented people still in place to carry forward our work. The Foundation’s board members are without exception dedicated, hard-working, and committed to the goal of improving lives in our county.
We’d love to hear from you if you have ideas about who might be a good choice for the Foundation’s next executive director. You can send ideas and candidates, confidentially, to me at the Marshall County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 716, Plymouth, IN 46563.
More than any individual, the real heroes of the Foundation are the generous donors and fund-holders who have chosen to ‘give back’ to this wonderful community we share. Thank you all so very, very much. Please be assured that we appreciate your generosity, we share your commitment to our neighbors, and we will be steadfast stewards of your Foundation’s mission.
