05/05/11 Members of the Plymouth Park Board selected the Troyer Group as their recommendation for a planning consultant for the new downtown park.  It was noted that the Troyer Group from Mishawaka has all the necessary staff for the job on staff.

Bob Beiter said, “All four companies gave excellent presentations.  The Troyer Group has quite a bit of experience and with their history with the city’s Greenway Trail I feel they would do a great job for us.”

Other board members agreed and unanimously approved Troyer Group for the project.  The Redevelopment Commission will make their selection at their meeting and then an agreement will be negotiated.

The Plymouth Park Board approved a contract with the Yellow River Festival to use the downtown park area on Saturday June 4th for their 5th annual festival.  The contract calls for a payment of 10% of all booth spaces rented at the event.  The board also approved a contract with the Plymouth Farmers’ Market for the 2011 season.  The Market will pay 10% of all booth rentals to the park department for use of the property.

In other business the Plymouth Park Board approved free use of the Fryman Shelter and area around the sledding hill on August 6th for a Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Fundraiser.  Purdue North Central freshman Kelli Jo Stachurski from Argos will be organizing the event that may even include a hot air balloon glow.  The board also approved free use of the Lion’s Shelter on July 30th for a walk-a-thon.  Genia Eckert will be conducting a Walk-a-thon to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
