Pilgrims avenge early season loss to Warsaw with a squeaker win at home

The Plymouth Pilgrims looked to have things in control going into the Top of the 7th inning with a 10-2 lead until starter Richie Luva struggled getting the final three outs.  Warsaw scored 7 in that half inning but it wasn’t enough as reliever Damon Howe threw for the first time to record the final outs and record his first save.

“It’s a win”, said Plymouth Head Coach Tony Plothow.  “Richie really pitched well until the 7th, he was either missing or throwing down the middle.   That was a sign of him getting tired.    I wanted him to finish because he threw so well today, but it wasn’t in the cards.   But we get the conference win to stay in first place with Goshen coming in on Wednesday.”

Luva pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up 7 runs on 10 hits,  2 walks, no strikeouts.

Plymouth plays Goshen on Wednesday.   At Wawasee on Friday.   Two games on Saturday, in Goshen during the morning and at Coveleski Stadium that evening.   All these games will be aired on AM1050 & AM1050.com.
