The Pilgrims swept the weekend with a 49-41 victory over Mishawaka. Brock Smith returned Friday night in Northridge which sparked a 44-28 win. He made a difference a for a second straight game scoring 16 points…4 rebounds and 3 steals!
“There’s no question. Brock has made us more solid in our play. He makes everyone play better. But the other side of that is WE are playing better as a total unit. Everybody is doing what they are supposed to… getting Brock, getting Houston, getting Sean (Smith) the ball when they’re supposed to.”, said Coach Kevin Stuckmeyer.
Plymouth’s patient offense eventually wore down the Cavemen by the fourth quarter. Plymouth got to the free throw line 13 times, hitting on 11 of them.
Freshmen Mack Mercer had another solid game scoring 13 pts and getting 9 boards, 4 offensive. He scored 8 of his 13 points in the 2nd quarter, which Plymouth scored 12 in that quarter.
“Mack is coming of age pretty quick. He’s doing a lot of little things that are getting him into position to score. He’s had early success and that is to be anticipated from him.”, said Stuckmeyer.
Coach Stuckmeyer was pleased with the weekend outcome and reminded his team of how their performance in the last two days was how Pilgrims basketball is supposed to be played.
