09/21/11 The road work signs blocking Pioneer Dr. were only down for seconds Tuesday afternoon before the first few cars ventured onto the road. City and county officials met to officially open the road, which runs between U.S. 30 and Lincoln Highway. The project also included work on Jim Neu Dr.

“The county would like to thank the city for helping us get this roadwork done,” said county commissioner Kevin Overmyer. He also thanked GE Marshall, Neal Haeck with the county highway department, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and DLZ Engineering.

“Ron (Wireman, of DLZ Engineering) was the project manager, and he did a wonderful job out here,” said Overmyer.

Overmyer also said that he appreciates local businesses cooperation with the project.

“We appreciate the patience (businesses) have had with the county,” said Overmyer.

“It means a lot,” added Neal Haeck, highway department superintendent.
