Looking to stop a one game slide, the Plymouth Pilgrims embarked on the first of 3 consecutive road games starting in Syracuse against the Wawasee Warriors friday night. After a pretty good first half performance, a lack luster third quarter start, kept the Pilgrims from ending the losing streak, 64-48 the final.
“We have to get mentally tougher for four quarters, not just two or three”, said Head Coach Kevin Stuckmeyer. “We knew what they (Wawasee) did and “repped” them almost everyday this week. It’s frustrating to see these kids work hard but not get the result they deserve.”
A 17-8 third quarter made the difference for Wawasee who was led in scoring by Logan Hatfield & Cody McBride who produced 15 pts each in the ballgame. McBride scored 10 of his 15 in the second quarter alone.
“Offensive rebounding hurt us, or the lack of.”, said Stuckmeyer. “Offensive rebounding is a matter of will and want. We struggled with both in the ballgame. This mental aspect has to get better. Hopefully with the return of Brock Smith this Friday expected, it will “re-focus” our mental frame of minds.”
Northridge is next for Plymouth friday night in Middlebury. WTCA Pre-Game Show at 7pm.
