11/28/11 With no snow on the ground for Santa and his reindeer to slide into downtown Plymouth on, the fire department saved the day by giving him a lift on the fire truck. Hundreds of parents and children had gathered in front of the City Center nearly an hour early to await his 5:30 arrival.

Mayor Mark Senter counted down the exact time for the lighting of the Christmas tree.

After shaking hands all around, Santa headed to the Fire Department to hear requests from the kids. Everyone enjoyed the traditional hot chocolate and cookies that have become a part of the annual event.

Members of the Plymouth High School choir under the direction of Mary Pat Glaub entertained the crowd with the joyous sounds of holiday music.

Senter said, ā€œIā€™m very pleased to see so many people here.ā€ The event is sponsored by the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
