Here is a tip for NIPSCO. Stop allowing your Board of Directors to vote themselves a 112% pay raise from $78,000 to $165,000. The board met a total of 7 times in 2008. Each meeting lasted from 4 to 8 hours. You do the math! How would you like to earn $4,000/hour? You can, just get your friends to vote you onto a Board of Directors and you too can vote yourself a raise and then tell everyone that $165,000 (for attending 7 meetings) is just the "going rate" in the energy business these days. The fact is, these Board of Directors should be serving without pay. They should consider it an honor, a resume builder and only their expenses should be paid. But no. They are just as greedy as the next person and we all get to pay for their extravagant lifestyles. Working hard to get ahead in life is good, but greed is bad at any level. I am saddenned that this concept is lost on those running large companies these days. Oh, one more thing, thank you NIPSCO for (only) raising my electric rate 7.9%.
