10/12/11 Starke United, Inc. has announced its plans for the upcoming fall campaign by naming the volunteers who will coordinate the organization’s fundraising efforts. Pacesetter (early) campaigns have already been conducted at a few area business and schools. Additional workplace campaigns will also be conducted throughout October and November.   “We are extremely enthusiastic about this year’s campaign and the individuals who have stepped forward to help Starke United achieve its goal of $50,000”, said Julie Dessauer, Starke United Executive Director.

This year’s campaign is headed by Nathan Welter, a lifelong resident of Starke County and Sports Broadcaster for WKVI radio.  Mr. Welter has generously donated his time to Starke United as a way of getting involved in the community. His goal is to make Starke County “an elite place to live”.

The annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast was held on September 21 at the Knox Community Center and was attended by local business organizations and individuals.

Starke United provides assistance to organizations that help support to the community in such areas as transportation assistance, the local food pantry, after school homework help, child abuse and teenage pregnancy prevention programs, and economic programs in the schools.  “In essence, Starke United is here to assist everyone, whether you are one or 101”, said Dessauer.

Starke United is in the business of “advancing the common good”; it works with over 70 agencies and is in the unique position of being able to connect people through giving, volunteering and advocating making a difference in the community.

Brochures will be placed at local banks along with other area businesses, inside each brochure is a pledge card which can be mailed to Starke United or ask if the business is a donation drop off site.

Starke United thanks every person, business, and organization that has donated to the agency. They pledge to continue to be there for Starke County and they are planning a strong campaign for the upcoming year.
