<description>Can someone please educate the rest of us on a couple of questions I believe many of us have after reading this article?

When they say the cost to the employer, do they mean gross pay to the combined union/ employee, or do they mean something else? At $61 bucks an hour, that would total almost $127,000 a year.
($61 x 40 hours x 52 weeks = $126,880)
If you use just the &quot;base wage&quot; the total is $81,536- can this be possible?

The $1 an hour increase they agreed was the healthcare cost hike, is only $2080 per year. To know how this factors in, we would need to know what the employee pays, what the union pays, and what the co-pays, deductibles and other items are. I know my health care cost has gone up way more than $1 per hour, and I have a $6,000 deductible, $10,000 out of pocket max, and still pay over $1,000 per month for family coverage.

I think people working 60 hour a week salaried jobs for $45,000 a year are prone to think, &quot;MY GOD! WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE MAKING?&quot; and I am really interested to hear the full story before rushing to judgement. Anyone?</description>
