08/04/11 Marshall County Chief Deputy Coroner, John Grolich investigated an accidental drowning of a toddler Tuesday night in Bremen.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call at 9:03 p.m. of an 18 month old who was found upside down in a mop bucket at the family’s home.

18 month old Jeriah Michael Borkholder of 4C Road in Bremen was found in the home’s yard with his head and body in a 5-gallon mop bucket filled with water by his father, Marvin.  His mother, Erma had been cleaning and sat the bucket outside.  His father had been working in the garden and thought his youngest child was in the house with the 4 other children and his mother also thought he was with the other kids.

The family immediately began CPR and when Bremen EMS responded to the scene they continued with efforts to save the child.  He was dead on arrival at the Community Hospital of Bremen.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday afternoon and found the toddlers death to be consistent with drowning.
