GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Ancilla College men’s basketball struggled to take care of the ball in a 91-64 loss at MCCAA Western Conference opponent Grand Rapids Community College on Wednesday.
The Chargers (4-17, 3-10 MCCAA Western) committed 23 turnovers while Grand Rapids (10-11, 5-8 MCCAA Western) had only seven on the night – including zero turnovers in the first half.
“We turned it over way too much,” said Ancilla men’s basketball coach Greg Neeley. “We cannot afford so many empty possessions and expect to still win.”
Joby Renbarger led Ancilla with 17 points. Antonio Cannon added 13 points while Michael Hornback chipped in with 12.
Jason Pratt led Grand Rapids with 21 points.
“Grand Rapids is a disciplined team, and we were not very good at the details tonight,” said Neeley. “They took advantage of our mistakes at both ends of the floor.”
The Chargers resume play on Feb. 19 when they host MCCAA Western Conference rivals Kellogg Community College at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST.
