01/18/11 The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 110 and State Road 17 on Thursday, January 13th at approximately 4:30 PM.
Upon arriving on the scene Patrolman Les McFarland made contact with 23 year old Drew Derry of Culver who was driving a 2004 Ford. Derry advised that he was traveling southbound on State Road 17and when he went to turn left to go eastbound onto State Road 110 and failed to see the oncoming traffic. Derry’s vehicle collided a 1996 Buick driven by Irvin R. Heckman of Rochester.
After the first two vehicles collided there was an additional impact. 30 year old Michael Smith of Knox was driving a 1992 Saturn and attempted to avoid the accident but made contact with one of the vehicles.
The Culver Fire and EMS responded and assisted in this accident. Mr. Irvin R. Heckman was treated and released from Woodlawn Hospital.
