11/10/11 Plymouth High School will be holding their annual Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 11th in the Plymouth High School Varsity Gym from 2:05 pm-2:45.  The North doors of the high school will open at 1:30 for veterans their friends and familise to assemble in the gym.  We ask that veterans and their family members please take seats on the main gym floor.

PHS Principal Jim Condon will welcome the guests, and the PHS Choir will lead the singing of the National Anthem and then entertain with another song.   Mayor Mark Senter will give the opening remarks followed by the featured speaker.   Senior Chief Petty Officer Joseph Faulstich US Navy retired, and the brother of PHS teacher Jane Faulstich. 

 Hodge Patel from Congressman Joe Donnelly’s office will read a state from the congressman and the Plymouth Orchestra will perform.  The ceremony will include the recognition of Veterans and a melody of service branch songs and close with a wreath ceremony and the playing of Taps.

Guest speaker for the event, Joseph M. Faulstich is the son of Michael and Janet Faulstich.  He grew up in Plymouth and graduated from PHS in 1981.   After graduation Joe enlisted in the US Navy and specialized in undersea warfare.  Serving onboard the USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG-29) and the USS Halyburton (FFG-40), Joe conducted operational missions during the Beirut crisis in 1983, the Persian Gulf War in 1991, and the genocidal Yugoslav war in 1993.  An official “blue nose” (he crossed the Arctic Circle), Joe retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (enlisted equivalent ranking of E-8) in 1997.
