03/24/11 Purdue Extension is offering an evening program on Wind Farms on Tuesday evening, March 29.  It will be held at Maxinkuckee Odd Fellows Lodge located at the intersection of 18B and Pine Roads being one mile south on highway 10.  The meeting will start at 7:00 pm and last about 2 hours.  With businesses contacting land owners about contracts for wind farms in Marshall County, Purdue Extension felt having a discussion on this topic would be beneficial for those being asked to sign contracts and those living in the neighborhood of these proposed wind farms.

Curt Emanuel, Clinton County Purdue Extension Educator, will provide background on wind farms, why here in Indiana, and the pros and cons of this industry to a community, impact of a wind contract to a farm business, and legal considerations when signing contracts for a Wind turbine.  Following Curt’s discuss, Ralph Booker, Marshall County Plan Director, will share the Marshall County Zoning Ordinances and process for a wind farm to be permitted in our county.  Following Ralph’s presentation, we will have a question and answer session.

If you are planning to attend this evening session, please call the Marshall County Extension Office or e-mail Bob Yoder at ryoder@purdue.edu by Monday, March 28, so adequate seating and handouts will be available for your participation in this program.
