03/05/12 The local Plymouth High School FFA Chapter has been awarded $1,200 as part of the inaugural FFA: Food For All program. The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support year-long service-learning projects focused on developing and implementing sustainable hunger relief projects. Plymouth FFA plans to build a hydroponics system in their school shop with the grant funding. Through the help of the Food For All grant, PHS FFA members will be constructing a fully functional hydroponics system capable of producing fresh lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and herbs. The chapter is hoping to have two harvests per year and donate 100% of the items to the Marshall County Neighborhood Center. The FFA: Food For All grant program is administered by the National FFA Organization, with funding provided by Farmers Feeding the World and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.
