Master Gardner Shares Book with Argos Students

April 18, 2012

04/19/12 Master Gardner/Composter and Tree Steward, Bob Jackson talked with Argos Elementary students this week and shared the book “The Curious Garden.”  He also talked about the importance of composting.

Jackson feeds red wiggler worms which provide the fertilizer for bountiful gardens.  Jackson told the students they could feed the worms (which are voracious eaters) most table scraps, leaves, grass, paper and cardboard.  He also mentioned a study which showed that chopped up CDs were not appreciated by the red wigglers because they pushed them off in a corner of the feeding bins.  Pictures of Jackson’s Rhode Island garden were also shown to the students.
