Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash Sunday Morning

  07/31/12  On Sunday, July 29th the Marshall County Police Department investigated a motorcycle accident injuring two people.

Jeremy L. Wegner 34, of Elkhart was driving his 1980 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Michigan Road coming onto the overpass ramp for US 31 north. Evidence at the scene showed that the motorcycle went off the roadway and struck the face of the guardrail on the north side of the ramp. The motorcycle continued traveling against the guardrail face for a short distance and came to rest on the overpass in the middle of the ramp.  Wegner and his passenger Kimberly J. Danaher 27, of Cassopolis were thrown off the motorcycle during the collision. Wegner received life threatening injuries during the collision and was flown from the scene to Memorial Hospital.   Danaher was transported by ambulance also to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The Marshall County Police Department was assisted at the scene by LaPaz Fire and LaPaz EMS, MedFlight and the Indiana State Police.

Jeremy Wegner is listed in critical condition at the hospital at this time. Kimberly Danaher is listed in stable condition.

Criminal Charges are pending at this time and the collision is still under investigation. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the collision.
