Plymouth Teen Arrested After Saturday Crash

  10/17/12  On Saturday, October 13th at 3:30 A.M. the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a report of a single rollover collision on State Road 10 near Beech Road.

The initial report said there was a subject observed walking away from the scene of the collision.

Upon arriving in the area of the collision Officer Nick Laffoon found 18 year old Steven L. Cogswell of Plymouth walking in the roadway of State Road 10 west of the scene of the collision.   During the initial investigation it was determined that Cogswell was intoxicated.   He was detained.

Further investigation at the scene revealed that Mr. Cogswell was in the vehicle at the time of the collision, but denied being the driver.  He was lodged in the Marshall County Jail after receiving treatment in the Plymouth Hospital for minor consuming with a $2,505 bond.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle involved in the collision had been stolen from a residence in the 2,000 block of State Road 10 sometime during the overnight hours.  The following day Mr. Cogswell’s charges were amended to include Auto Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Operating While Intoxicated along with several other misdemeanor charges.

The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police and the Bourbon Police Department.
