Shop With A Cop Applications & Fundraising Underway

November 27, 2012

11/28/12 Thanksgiving is over and that mean the Christmas season is fast-approaching!  The holidays are supposed to be a wonderful time, especially for the children of our community.  But due to our economy and job loss, this Christmas will be a struggle for many people.  The Plymouth FOP Lodge 195 and countless members of this community have been trying to restore the magic of Christmas to families in Marshall County for many years.  The annual Shop With A Cop program takes needy children shopping for clothes, coats, shoes, boots, and toys.  Each child gets the opportunity to interact with local law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel and community members while they shop for items that they need and a couple of items that they want.

Last year, almost 350 children got the privilege to participate in the shop.  This amazing number is only possible because of the generosity of this community.  Please continue to drop your change in the buckets placed in local stores.  It all adds up!

On December 7th the annual Shop With A Cop radio auction on AM1050 will attempt to raise $15,000 for the cause.  The list of auction items keeps growing and growing.  There is something on the list for everyone!  What a great way to get your own Christmas shopping done and help make a child’s Christmas brighter!  Some of the items in the auction this year;  a vacation package donated by Oliver Ford Lincoln, a 14 cu. ft. upright freezer donated by Young’s TV and Appliance, a month of pre-school donated by Kid’s Club Preschool, 2 PHS girls basketball season tickets donated by the Plymouth Athletic Office, and various autographed sports items.  The list goes on and on!!  All proceeds from the auction go directly to the kids so please listen in, bid high and bid often!  Please call WTCA (936-4096) to get a bid number prior to the auction.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible cash donation, please send it to Plymouth FOP Lodge #195, P.O Box 875, Plymouth, IN  46563.

If you would like to pick up an application to be considered for the shop, you can pick the application up at the WTCA Studio, your school counselor’s office and the Marshall County Boys and Girls Club in Plymouth.  Applications are due by 4:00 pm on December 7th and no late applications will be accepted.  You will be notified by phone on December 12th if your child has been selected.
