Law Enforcement Agencies Honored by State

November 26, 2012

11/26/12 Local law enforcement agencies were honored by the state for their work Operation Pull Over.

The Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute honored Marshall County law enforcement agencies for outstanding performance. The officers of the departments are judged by the number of contacts made during a normal eight hours of patrol along with a reduction in the number of accidents and injuries due to impaired driving or non-use of seat belts. Money for the task force is provided as part of a grant and based on the same performance criteria.

For a second straight year the Marshall County Sheriff’s task force made up of officers from Bourbon, Bremen, Culver and Plymouth Police departments working with Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies were honored by the state. Walkerton and Lakeville Police were honored as part of the St. Joseph county traffic safety partnership.

Marshall County Sheriffs Deputy Kerry Brouyette also received a special award for Operation Pull Over and seat belt safety.

Efforts conducted by Operation Pull over consist of an influx of public awareness using advertising and media campaigns coupled with two weeks of increased enforcement.
