08/28/12 For the third year in a row, a karaoke contest that will name the “Blueberry Idol” will help kick-off the Labor Day weekend in Plymouth. The contest, open to people of all ages, will be held at the Young Amphitheatre on Friday, August 31. Last year, some 50 performers entered the contest. Prizes are awarded in two age categories of 15 years old and younger and 15 an older.

Jason Nichols of Attitude Entertainment will be providing all of the karaoke equipment. Helping coordinate the event will be the lead singer of GreenFire, Maggie Nixon. Judges April Cooper, Rick Cooper and Butch Clark will be scoring contestants their vocals, stage performances and song choices.

Registration will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on August 31 at the amphitheatre. Performances will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The event is free of charge to both contestants and the public.
