08/31/12 The Marshall County Blueberry Festival officially opens Friday evening at 5 p.m. with the opening ceremony at the Jefferson School Stage.  Food booths, craft booths and exhibits are open from 5 until 9 p.m. with the carnival being open from 5 until 10 p.m.

Highlight of the evening is the Little Miss & Mr. Blueberry Contest beginning at 5:30 at the front stage near the skate park.  Following the crowning, Daphne’s Dolls will perform baton exhibitions.

Be sure to stop by one of the information booths and pick up a souvenir from this year’s festival. This year the collectable basket is the vegetable basket complete with a cloth liner with a beautiful blueberry liner and a protector.  This special limited edition basket is $50.  Also new this year are the ceramic coffee mugs at $8 each, the hot and or cold tumblers with the new Blueberry Festival logo on the front with spill proof lid for $20 and the stainless steel mugs for  $10.  They also have a brand new T-shirt design in great colors.  You’ll find zippered sweatshirts, lapel pins, hats, Christmas ornaments, shot glasses, magnets, tote bags and more.
