Plymouth lost 9-7 in seven innings at Nixon Field on Wednesday, despite outhitting Elkhart Memorial 11 to six.

Plymouth was led by Connor Flynn‘s hitting. Flynn went 4-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.

P Devenney got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over four innings. The Elkhart Memorial pitcher struck out four, walked three and surrendered six hits.

Plymouth jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Plymouth attack began with a single from Joe Knapp. A single by Flynn then moved Knapp from first to second. Then a sacrifice fly by Jacob Seagraves scored Knapp.

Elkhart Memorial never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring five runs on an RBI single by B Brewers and four bases loaded walks.

Elkhart Memorial increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. A bases loaded walk scored D Asbury to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by J Santerre’s single, plating R Asbury.

One run in the bottom of the fourth helped Plymouth close its deficit to 8-2. An RBI single by Blake Milliser gave Plymouth life. Knapp grounded out to end the Plymouth threat.

One Plymouth run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth, making the score 8-3. An RBI single by Jacob Frantz set off a Plymouth rally. S Clark ended the inning by getting Hayden Skirvin to.

Four runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Plymouth close its deficit to 8-7. An RBI single by Chase Peters, , and a two-run single by Trent Briles sparked Plymouth‘s rally. But, J Oley got Skirvin to strike out to end the inning.
