05/22/12 The Arts Council of Marshall County was formed to enrich, to encourage, and to engage both artists and their audience in an expression and celebration of the community’s creative spirit. It’s vision is to broaden the definition of art in Marshall County to include and value all expressions of the creative spirit that improve the quality of life in our community, to identify artists and make available a registry to connect individuals and groups in our county and beyond thus fostering communication among artists both within and without the community, to maintain a calendar of arts opportunities and events, to cooperate with existing agencies to seek, attain, and maximize the impact of funding to sustain the arts in Marshall County, and to provide a permanent venue for exhibitions, performances, and meetings of arts related groups.

With all of this in mind the Arts Council has recently created a website and has begun to function in full capacity as envisioned. The ACMC site is currently creating an online Artist Registry. This database will serve as a reference and a resource for the northern Indiana, northeastern Illinois, and southern Michigan areas for both the artist and non-artist alike.

The Arts Council encourages all artists currently living or working in these areas to join the registry today by visiting the Arts Council site at either: www.artscouncilmc.org or www.createmarshallcounty.org. Following the directions at the site and becoming a registrant is easy! Once registered all artists can be found and viewed through either an alpha search by the artist’s last name or through a search by artistic category and medium.
The ACMC site is also available as a resource for promoting area events and is encouraging all organizations and other venues to participate. Events must take place in Marshall and its surrounding counties and can be submitted online as far in advance as possible. However they must be submitted at least two to four weeks prior to the event’s start date. All of the event information must be provided. Listings that do not include all information in any of the event listing fields cannot be posted. A calendar of all of these events is available and easily accessible at the site.
